At the end of 2018, a contract was signed between the NATO Public Diplomacy Division and the Research Centre for Regional Security (Agreement #RG333 PR28175). According to Agreement, in 2019 the Center received international financial, organizational and methodological support for university work.

The main objectives of the Center within the project are: 1) to provide students, graduate students and academics with useful information to assist them in their research; 2) coordinate with the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine and promptly provide interested parties with information on NATO programs (eg Science for Peace and Security, scholarships, seminars, workshops); 3) conducting regional security research and monitoring the attitude of Sumy residents to NATO; 4) development of training courses on security and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine; 5) provide access to NATO multimedia materials; 6) maintain and update the mailing list of NATO recipients and share this information with the NATO Information and Documentation Center; 7) Organize public awareness events such as briefings, conferences and seminars on regional security and NATO.

As a result of the Center's work, in 2019, a total of 49 public events were organized: 9 roundtables, 1 conference, 8 workshops, 28 lectures, 2 essay contests, 1 sociological survey. The events were attended by 1,020 students, 55 journalists, 8 diplomats, 27 experts. According to the direction of work with high school students, experts of the Center conducted seminars and interactive events in 18 educational establishments of Sumy region with the reach of 720 students. In total, 800 media reports on NATO and 1100 publications of the Center were distributed throughout the year. Also, experts of the Center worked as lecturers at the Center for Training of Civil Servants of Sumy Regional State Administration. During the year, 12 lectures on NATO-Ukraine relations and information security were held for 520 civil servants.
