Research Centre for Regional Security is a research center of Sumy State University, which was established with the support of the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine. The main purpose of the Center is to unite scientists, government officials, volunteers and NGOs to study the key security challenges in the East European region and to form science-based recommendations.

Mykola Nazarov, PhD, directly manages the Center.

The Center has the following objectives:

- Conducting research, analytical, organizational, information and education aimed at working out priorities for regional security policy; study the international experience diversified combating security threats;

- Analysis of relevant information environment of the region in terms of the objective and content of available information on the safety and development of recommendations for the development of effective mechanisms and structures promoted security policy;

- Initiation and implementation of research in the study features information influence and manipulation techniques, methods of combating them and increase stress vulnerable populations; including in terms of military threat.

- The introduction of new instruments of informal education, including the training courses, debates, business games, training, etc., and implementation of appropriate forms of training for scientific and teaching staff in order to obtain critical thinking skills and assessment of the situation, the ability to withstand the impact of the information;

- Establish communications with those of provincial, municipal, international and conducting information and educational activities (seminars, debates, workshops, "round tables") to improve the professionalism and efficiency in the delivery of assistance and the formation of the information environment (exchange experiences, learn best practices , joint developments and testing methods, etc.);

- Monitoring public opinion poll on security policy and attitude of residents of the region to these issues, including issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.
